Congratulations to Rob McKenna who has won the Federal Group Award for his solar plate etching, ' To the ghosts of 30 million trees'. This image was inspired by HIP's visit to the old wood chip mill at Spring Bay, Triabunna, and references the estimated number of (old growth) trees put through the mill during its years of operation from 1972 to 2011.

In 2017 some HIP artists visited Spring Bay Mill in Triabunna. The former wood chip mill is under development and HIP was able to visit the site in its raw state. It was a fantastic opportunity to gather information and to respond to this significant place where a 300 year old tree could be reduced to a pile of wood chips in just six seconds!

Last November a group of HIP members took part in a weekend Residency on Maria Island. The artists spent time gathering material to develop a set of prints in response to their experience of Maria Island. This work will be exhibited on the island in Nov/Dec 2018.
