Workshop with Phyllis Fiotakis - 13/20 May 2023
Day 1 – Phyllis gave an introductory talk. Students learnt about registration for elimination printing at their request. Lino blocks were designed and cut out. They then made their registration sheets and printed their first colour on proof paper.
Students learnt about adjusting pressure on the press.
Phyllis spoke about collagraphs and explained textures & cutting into the blocks. Students took collagraph blocks home to complete to be ready for printing Day 2.
Day 2 – Phyllis demonstrated wiping a collagraph block and a blend roll for lino printing. Successful printing of second colour on lino prints.
Collagraph blocks first printed on proofing paper. Then Fabriano Rosapina 200g paper cut into mini print size of 21 x 21cm was used for final prints after fine tuning of plates.
Workshop was enjoyed by all who attended.
