Clam shell boxes with Leonie
Create a bespoke clamshell box designed to safely store and showcase your growing collection of original prints created for or acquired through the annual Hunter Island Press 21 x 21 print sales. In this hands on workshop, you will learn traditional box-making techniques to construct a beautiful archival-quality box tailored to your collection.
Participants will learn the fundamental of measuring, cutting and assembling a clam shell box while gaining an understanding of archival storage principles for works on paper. By the end of the workshop, you will have a finished custom box ready to protect and present the unique collection of prints.
Don’t have a print collection? Your completed clam shell box can become a special place for photographs, drawings, keepsakes or treasured objects.
ABOUT LEONIE…Leonie Oakes is an award winning Australian multi-disciplinary artist whose practice spans artists books, printmaking, photography and wearable art. Based in Tasmania her work explores storytelling, memory and the material possibilities of paper through 2D and 3D forms. Leonie has exhibited widely and is recognized for her innovative sculptural book works that blend paper, stitch and narrative.
